Tears for Ukraine Digital Art - First Art Print in the Shop Supports Ukraine Relief Efforts
A digital painting to support and inspire during a time of horror and heartbreak.
Hello dear friends, I have a somber art piece to share with you today.
I call this artwork, Tears for Ukraine. It is a digital painting that's been a hidden gem for a while now. I started her back in February after Ukraine was invaded. It's been a terrifying time and the terrible news that would come across the different screens, whether it be phone, computer, or tv, brought on waves of worry, fear, and plenty of anxiety.
As a wife, mom, sister, and friend, I am horrified by what so many Ukrainians are undergoing right now in their country. It broke my heart to see the mothers finding their way through the broken cities of Ukraine as they fled with their little ones.
It was through this deep grief that this painting unfolded. As an artist, this Tears for Ukraine painting is the gift I can give to them, to honor their country, heritage, and the sacrifice they've undertaken in this war. The sadness I felt was literally poured into this piece.
The color palette is from a curated one of mine. I chose this one because it's the color of the clouds when it rains, when the sky is crying.
As for the subject, I chose a female to signify inner strength, willpower, nurturing, compassion, and empathy. She has cried so much to fill all of Ukraine. That signifies all of the deaths, loss, and destruction that has hit their country, as well as the loss for all of us around the world who have ties, relations, and connections to Ukraine.
The painting of the liquid in Ukraine was more difficult than I thought. I wanted it to glow and flow. After several attempts (that you can see in the YouTube video here), I finally found a technique and set of brushes in Procreate that worked well together.
It's through this painting that I want to start my project with Tears for Ukraine.
For every print sold will see 50% of the gross profits from the order go to a Ukrainian charity or relief effort. The other 50% will go back into Tears for Ukraine products that will continue to fund support for the Ukrainians, such as pins, stickers, and t-shirts.
You can choose from a 5x7 or 8x10 or both in a bundle! When you order, you will get to choose a charity that your art purchase's profits will go toward!
How exactly does this work, you might be wondering? 😏 Once your order is confirmed, I will ship your art to the directed shipping address. Then at the end of each month, 50% of gross profits will be donated to the charities of your choice! Still have questions? Leave me a comment, and I'll be happy to clarify.
I'm excited in this art effort. Let's support Ukraine together!
As always, I thank you for being here!
